a poem

why did you attempt to anchor
a body so bound to existing?

a black body

haunted by memories.

on the hunt to outlive the
guests at their funeral.

to outlast the malice.

a black body

that wanted nothing
more than to let joy coat
the rosewood of their being.

to pollinate the world with its
neverending talent.

a black body

destined to outlive

smiling postcards filled
with butchers, the taste of
strange fruit, and hooded demons.

why would you try to confine a
body so intent on evolving?

the black body

can never be
sequestered.

thank you for reading my work.
if you liked this piece, you’ll love this
one.
